Busy Fun-Filled Weekend : )

This past weekend was a lot of fun.

FRIDAY, Kenzie and I had a PACKED day. We woke up and ate breakfast and drove over to pick up our friends Melissa (my friend) and her daughter Sydney (Kenzie's friend). We all went to JoAnn's fabrics so I could get ONE wooden letter "K" for Makenzie's nursery that they didn't have at the JoAnn's by me, and to Babies R Us to shop for another friend's baby shower that is coming up this Saturday. I wanted to get a couple things as well. After our shopping, we dropped them back off at home and I stopped at Wendy's to get a hamburger for lunch : ) MMmmmm...

Kenzie fell asleep in the car...and slept in the car for around 45 minutes. So when we got home she woke up (of course) and I tried to put her back down since she usually sleeps AT LEAST an hour and a half, but she was too awake. So I got her up around 11:45 and gave her lunch. We just had a relaxing lunchtime and then took our time getting ready to go to the pool. We met Melissa and Sydney there, as well as our friends Heather and Avie. The pool we went to has a "beach-entry" so the kids LOVED walking into the water and playing. We were in the pool for an hour and then ate some snacks before heading home around 3:30.

Kenzie was wiped out, between not having a normal nap in the morning and swimming in the afternoon so she fell asleep on the way home and slept until 5:30. When she woke up we loaded her in the car and drove 2 whole minutes over to Chip's Grandma and Grandpa Brown's house for dinner. We TRY to get together once a week for lunch or dinner...which really means we probably get together twice a month. It has been fun for Kenzie to get to know her great-grandparents : )

After dinner at their house, we went over to another friend's house. It was his birthday and he was having people over to play the Wii and just hang out. His wife is pregnant and due 2 weeks before me, so it was fun seeing the things she has started getting for the nursery and all her cute girly outfits she's got hanging in the closet. We didn't end up leaving there until 10pm, but Kenzie was very good for being up so much past her bedtime. We had a BUSY Friday!

SATURDAY started out nice. I had my first experience with a co-op called "bountiful baskets". You sign up earlier in the week, and on Saturday mornings (every 2 weeks) you go and pick up your basket of produce. It is purchased by the co-op from a warehouse that distributes to Sprout's Farmers Markets as well as local restaurants. They get the produce at wholesale rates and then divide it evenly between everyone who signed up for a basket. The first time you get a basket it is $18.50 and after that it is $16.50. They try to give you around $50 worth of produce (at grocery store rates). The "scary" part is, you don't ever know WHAT will be in your basket. They try to include mostly "normal' produce....and it largely depends on what is in season. This week we got: baby carrots, zucchini, red potatoes, romaine lettuce, small pickling cucumbers, apples, red pears, bananas, grapes, a cantaloupe, and mangoes. YUM! So I got home from picking up my basket around 8am and Kenzie was just getting up.

Around 8:45 our friends from Tucson, Krystal and Jesus, got here. Jesus does electrical work and we were really wanting a ceiling fan installed in the kids' room. There was no wiring run to the ceiling yet, so we knew there was no way we could do it on our own. So Jesus graciously came up and did it for us! And he did a GREAT job. He was even able to avoid cutting in extra holes in our popcorn ceiling (we had no idea how we'd patch that!) : ) PLUS...I got to spend some wonderful time with Krystal, who I don't think I had seen since about a year before at her wedding! We had a great time. Jesus and Chip got the job done in less 3 hours, and that included them going to Home Depot. After they got done, we had Papa John's pizza for lunch (yummy yummy) and they were able to get on the road headed for home by 12:30, which was the same time Chip left for work! Here are some pictures of the boys working and the finished fan....

Only 3 small holes to patch! (the little holes were already there from some bookshelves we used to have up......)

Kenzie was super tired and ready for a nap, since she didn't get to lay down for her morning nap. We had moved all her bedding, as well as most of her other toys, out of the room so they wouldn't get dusty....so I spent 30-45 minutes getting all of her stuff back in her room and set up and she was able to go down for a nap around 1:15.

While she was sleeping, I spent time doing a little project I have wanted to do for a LONG time. Since I was pregnant with Kenzie I thought it would be fun to buy unfinished wooden letters from a craft store and decorate them and hang her name on the wall above the crib. Since I worked full time until she was born and we weren't even 100% for sure that her name would be Makenzie before she was born, I never got around to it. And I have been meaning to do it SINCE she was born, but somehow the months just keep rolling by. So....I decided to do BOTH her name and her little brother's name...FINALLY! I bought letters at JoAnn's Fabrics and spray painted hers pink and his blue. Then I traced around the letters on scrapbook paper, cut them out, and glued the paper onto the wood. I stapled ribbon loops on the back to hang them up. I can't show you Baby Boy's name yet....but here is Kenzie's name, in the process and finished.....

So that was Saturday.

SUNDAY was Father's day. We went to church at our normal time of 8:30 and Chip had to work right after. I worked when I got home too....typing letters and posting for my office job. Chip got off around 6 and got home just in time to get changed and hop back in the car to be over to his grandparent's house for pizza with them and his parents. So our Sunday was LESS busy...but lots of fun and a great way to end the weekend!
