The scale kept fluctuating between 7lbs 11oz and 7lbs 12oz....but when he finally held still for a minute it stayed on 7lbs 110z. So that was his official birth weight. And he measured 19 inches long.
Chip left the hospital around 8:30 and went home to get Kenzie. He brought her back around 9 to meet her baby brother. She liked seeing her brother, but she was more interested in playing...
Ryken had several visitors throughout the day. First, my Grandpa Jorg and his wife Shirley came. My friends Heather and Melissa came later in the afternoon. Then Chip's Grandma and Grandpa Brown came. My parents got there around 4:30pm. They had dentist appointments that morning that kept them from coming sooner : ) Chip's mom was out of town helping his sister Liz move. They didn't get home until late Wednesday night. It was funny, because last August his mom's best friend was out of town when her granddaughter was born, so Chip's mom got to see the baby before her. This was payback time....Kim came to the hospital and got to see Ryken before Grandma did! Our friends John and Lindsay came later that night, as well as Chip's boss, Tad, and his wife. It was a busy day, especially after being in labor ALL night and not getting any sleep. But it was so much fun to introduce our son to so many special people!

Chip was at home a lot of the day with Kenzie. He brought her in the morning, then took her home to take a nap and eat lunch. He brought her back for about an hour and a half in the afternoon, but she was getting bored hanging out in a small hospital room so he took her back home.
Once my parents were done visiting me at the hospital, they went to our place and relieved Chip so he could come be with me at the hospital for the night. So overall....Ryken's birthday was a great day : )
