Ok. So wow. It has been three months since I last wrote. At the time I was hopeful that I would start writing more often. Looks like THAT didn't happen! I THINK about blogging quite often, really. I think of the things I would talk about.....think about things I need to update about....it's actually finding the time to get the thoughts typed out that never happens.
But here I am, just like the last time, taking advantage of "bath time"....when I sit in the bathroom watching my little peanuts enjoy the warm water and bubbles and fill their buckets and dump them out. So...since I have a few minutes, I will write.
First...an update on the twins. I am now 29weeks 2days into this pregnancy. It is going by SO fast and SO slow all at once. I have gotten to see these sweet boys of mine SO many times this pregnancy! I had in-depth growth ultrasounds at weeks: 9, 13, 17, 19, 21, 23, and 26. I go tomorrow for another one and then starting in 3 weeks (at 32 weeks) we will be going every week for an ultrasound. Assuming I go until they induce me a little before 36 weeks, I will have had 12 or 13 full-length ultrasounds. I say "full-length" because I also get to see them at all of my doctors appointments....which means I saw them for a sneak peak at several other appointments. So far, everything has been going COMPLETELY smoothly with these little guys. They have been growing almost exactly equally...sometimes to the ounce. The most they have ever measured apart as far as weight has been 2oz. They are also measuring about 5-7 days AHEAD. They start out as 2-3 days ahead...then 3-4...then 4-5...now 5-7. I will find out tomorrow exactly what they are estimating their weights to be at this point, but we're thinking it is probably around 3 1/2lbs each now! And I am FEELING it. I definitely have reached the size of a full-term singleton pregnancy. I'm just not done growing yet! My belly is getting some signs of early stretch marks. Sad day. I got a few teeny tiny ones with Ryken, but they had gone away quite a bit. I am hoping these won't get TOOO bad, but I knew that with twins I had to expect it to be worse than before. Also, the past few days I have broken out in a lovely "pregnancy rash" all over my tummy. It is all these tiny red bumps that itch like the dickens!! Last night the itchiness woke me up a few times. NO FUN! I am going to try some hydrocortisone cream, and maybe Benadryl if it gets bad enough, but from things I have read and from talking to my doctor, the only way to get rid of it is to have the babies......sooo.....looks like I'm stuck with an ugly red itchy belly for the next 6 1/2 weeks.
If everything goes well, these little guys will STOP being so squirmy (they are in new positions every ultrasound lately...head up, head down, transverse, allll over the place!) and HOPEFULLY they will both decide they are nice and comfy in a head down position. If not, we're hoping that at least which ever one decides to be the lowest (the "presenting" or first baby) will be head down. IF these things happen...and IF I don't deliver any earlier (praying I don't!) then my doctor will most likely strip my membranes on Thursday, February 4th (35w4d) and if nothing happens she will induce either Friday the 5th or Saturday the 6th. My OB and perinatologist are both wanting the babies to be delivered BY 36 weeks (Sunday the 7th) because of issues that can arise from their shared placenta. They are also growing so well, and I had both Kenzie and Ryken at least 2 weeks early. So that is the current "game plan". If the babies are NOT cooperative in their positioning, I will have a scheduled C-section one of those days.
Hmm...other news...
So...we got to have Christmas with my family this past Sunday. My younger sister and her husband are home from school in Indiana for Christmas and my older brother and his family live in Tucson. So we all got together at my parents house on Sunday afternoon for "Christmas breakfast" and then opened presents. It is always SO much fun watching the kids and how excited they are to open all of the gifts!
Kenzie got a tutu, crown and wand....which she wore for a lot of the time we were there. She also got a talking baby doll, a Magna-doodle, new pjs, socks & tinkerbell undies. I'm sure there was more, too...those were the main things I can remember off the top of my head though.
Ryken got several trucks, a John deer tractor flashlight, and a Kawasaki quad bike that he can ride around (not motorized...just powered by baby legs) He LOVES it.
We had a GREAT time seeing family!! We're looking forward to seeing them all again for New Year's Eve!
Ok...well, the kiddos are wanting out, so I need to go. Maybe I'll be back for more updates on life before 3 months go by again......then again, maybe I won't! We'll all just have to wait and see, I guess : )
